The Black Arrow
The Black Arrow rocket was Britain's only satellite launch vehicle. It orbited the Prospero satellite in October 1971. This postcard features a view of the Black Arrow rocket at the Science Museum. This rocket, R4, was never used and was presented to the Science Museum were it remains on public display in the Exploration of Space gallery.
Ariel 1
This postcard features the full scale engineering model of the first British satellite "Ariel 1" which is on public display at the Science Museum, London in the Exploration of Space gallery. The flight version was launched on the 26th April 1962 as a space explorer to carry out experiments devised by four British universities. It burnt up on re-entry 14 years later.
